What is Your Setting for Cloudy Day? (KYO)

Thank you for your responses to the accessory tag I suggested in my last post.
Glad to know some of you are using the same brands’ straps and cases as mine.

Well, the weather was cloudy and occasionally rainy during the first photo walk by the members of GR official the other day.
Therefore, the view of the city was low in contrast, saturation, and three-dimensional effect.
I looked for colorful subjects and higher contrast situations.

Then, I changed the settings of the GR II accordingly.
I set them to My Settings for cloudy day that I had previously prepared.

This My Setting has an effect bracket and a single release produces three images with the three different effects.

It’s normally set to AV (aperture priority) with the aperture fixed at F3.2, which can be applied to most of the situations.

The effects are

Higher contrast and saturation (Normal and Sharp)
Brilliance Effect modified to negative (Brilliance Dull)
Higher clarity and brighter shadow (Clear and Very Sharp)

Details are as follows.
※ The following three examples were taken with the three settings for comparison.

AV F 3.2 ISO 400 EV 0.0

Normal and Sharp (left)
Saturation D:8 Contrast C:7 Sharpness S:6 Vignetting weak

Brilliance Dull (middle)
Brilliance- Brilliance 4 (weakened) Saturation D:5 Contrast C:5 Sharpness S:5

Clear and Very Sharp (right)
Clarity- Clarity 8 (strengthened) Toning Effect Saturation D:5 Vignetting OFF

On the other hand, too much Clarity can result in HDR-like artificial images. You might want to adjust it depending on the composition or subject.

My GR, by the way, has several MY Settings including sunny weather landscape, sunny weather street, cloudy weather portrait. I choose to use one according to the weather and situation.

Before the rainy season comes, why don’t you try to find a different setting for your own.
