Hello, I'm Yuka.
Spring has finally come to rainy Seattle!
On weekends, I take out my camera to fully enjoy its nature.
When shooting on a sunny day, many of you may have difficulty seeing the LCD monitor. One of the new features of the GR III is the Outdoor View Setting.
It is a function already installed in the PENTAX K series that allows the LCD monitor to improve its visibility when shooting under bright sunlight. In addition to simply adjusting the brightness, it processes the image data displayed on the monitor for more clarity.
With the GR III, you can adjust the LCD monitor itself by selecting “Setup” → “LCD Settings” and adjust “Brightness”.
In "Outdoor View Setting", you can adjust ± 2 steps based on the brightness that you set in “Brightness” of “LCD Setting”.
As for me, I set “Brightness” of “Monitor Setting” to the standard and usually adjust “Outdoor Setting” +2 when shooting under strong sunlight. Since I often go outdoors to shoot these days, I have assigned it to “ADJ Mode Setting” so that I can recall it immediately.

This function has been realized as a result of efforts by the picture quality engineers in making various image corrections. But the image you see on the LCD does not necessarily match the picture actually recorded. So, keep in mind that when you see the image on the LCD with the Outdoor View Setting, use the image only for checking the condition and composition of the subject.
