This time, I would like to share with you a little bit about shooting with high ISO sensitivity.

With the GR III, you can set the ISO up to 102400 (it was up to 1600 (3200 in AUTO-HI) for the GR II).
I think ISO 102400 is rarely used in normal shootings, but perhaps you use it up to around ISO 10000 in many cases.

For example, a show at a restaurant.
Belly dance originated in the Middle East, characterized by finely decorated costumes. Sometimes props like veils and sticks are used.
In most shows, they turn down the light of the hall and up of the stage, where it is not bright enough for ISO AUTO to capture the subject without blurs.
So, I set the ISO at 16000 to be able to capture the dynamic movements of the props and the dancer’s expressions beautifully.

Luckily, I could sit right in front of the stage, so I placed the camera on the table and fixed it (that’s why you can see a couple of chair backs in the lower right). I set the drive mode to continuous and kept pressing the shutter.
Then I was able to capture the moments without hand shaking.

For you may be curious how granular the image is, I trimmed out the floor and skirt parts in the actual size (3360 × 2240) from the above picture.

It is a bit rough, but I personally think it’s good enough.

This is my favorite shot. The dancer’s expression was captured beautifully.

The GR III can perform well in the dark indoor.
Because I prefer watching the show with my own eyes to through the lens, I did not try as many settings. I will try to fine a better setting to convey the mood of the store if I have a chance!
